A TEMPESTUOUS TRIP.

PASSENGER BY THE MOERAKI SERIOUSLY INJ law—.

(Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 7. The passengers from Australia by the Moeraki, which arrived yesterday, after a stormy passage, had a, very unpleasant time, it was raining heavily when the vessel left Sydney, and outside the Heads the ship steamed into a strong gale ami a heavy sea. All day Sunday the wind blew with hurricane force, and a quantity of water was shinned. Some deck fittings and steam "pipes were carried away, and some deck cargo damaged. On Monday it was still blowing hard, and further seas broke upon tho steamer. At 9 aim. the Marama was passed, and she was flying before the gale. The weather began to moderate on Tuesday, and at'noon on that day it was raining, and a confused sea was running. The conditions continued to improve, and by Wednesday evening the set had calmed down considerably. A steerage passenger named Grant- was thrown to the deck, ami besides sustaining severe injuries to hi::- bead, lie had a forearm broken, and lost blood to an extent that greatly woikcncd him- It was afterwards discovered that- two arteries had been cut, and as a result Air. Grant was in a state of semi-collanse. Yesterday morning Air. Grant was still very weak, and has been removed to the Wellington Hospital. Tho Moeraki also brought eight Chinese, who are making their first trip to X.Z.
