TE ORANGA HOME.
AN INQUIRY TO 'BE HELD
Spocial to Times. WELLINGTON, Feb. 7. In regard to the further complaints •regarding the To Oranga Home for Girls, the Hon. Mr. Fowlds makes the following statement:—“l have recognised from the way the agitation has boon continued in Christchurch and elsewhere, since the previous complaints were made about the institution, that it would be necessary to hold an inquiry by commission in order to satisfy'the' public mind on the mutter, mid to give those in charge of the institution an opportunity of defending Hie mank jigement. and the methods employed in managing those under their care. The present scare has arisen. 1 believe. from the discharge of one of the staff, who was reported to me as acting very disloyally, and stirring up trouble •amongst the girls. The publication of this statement will, of course, be met by a full inquiry into the management of the institution.”
