A report having been circulated in Auckland to the effect that Air. T. F. Farley, formerly of that city, is deceased, that gentleman chose a very satisfactory method of ■discrediting the rumor by calling at this office last evening. Like Mark Twain, when placed in a similar position. Mr. Farley says:—“Report of my death grossly exaggerated.” llis actual telegram to a relative in Auckland was: —“Fit as a Jiddle; aide to tnko on all decent-sized liars.” Naturally lie is incensed at such a, rumor having been circulated.
The Government owns a 'kincinatograpli and employs a kinematographist in Mr. J. M’Donald, the artistphotographer of the Tourist Department. At the invitation of Mr. T. E. Donne, a “Dominion” representative was present at a private show of the results that have so far been achieved in depicting those features of our picturesque country that lend thomeslves tj animated photography. Some of_these, it is stated, are exceptionally .interesting, .and, if exhibited abroad, shou'd prove valuable advertisements. One depicts a healthy crop of Maori girls executing the graceful poi dance with the neverresting Waikiti geyser playing continuously in ihe background; another deals with an amusing Maori canoe rare, with plenty of Native color; and still another is a particularly graphic picture of the steaming cliffs of Lake Rotomahana, and the Government launch maoenvring in the boiling waters of that historic lake.
