Dr. J. Clive Collins went South on a holiday by the; Mokoia last night and expects to return in a fortnight. During this absence Dr Campbell will act as bis locum tenons. Dr Morrison ■returned by tbe Mokoia from Auckland last eveningfrom a holiday trip.
Mr AV. A. .Barton S. M. and Mrs Barton returned yesterday morning by the AVi.iikaro after a holiday in the South. A wedding of some local interest’ was solemnised at the Matawhero church on Tuesday', the contracting parties being Mr A. Williams, second son of Mr T. Williams, late of Patialmitu, and Miss Margaret Stella AVardrope. Three bridesmaids were in waiting; on the bride, and the groom was ably assisted by Mr Tange as best-man. The pretty church uas quite full and Miss Gilman pres: led at the organ and played the opening hymns and subsequently tlie Wedding March. The wedding party adjourned to the Roseland Hotel loi afternoon tea and later all met at the Patutahi Hall where dancing was kept up until the small hours. The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many presents, and of many good wishes for their future, and hearty cheers were given by the assemblage. Archdeacon AVilliams left by the Mokoia for iS'outli last night on a business visit and expects to be away about three weeks. Air. H. Xockie, of the Government Life insurance Department, arrived in Gisborne yesterday morning. He is to represent tiie Department here for a couple of months, when a permanent man is to be appointed. At tiie residence of the bride’s parents yesterday Air J. P. Blair, second son of tiie late Mr J. S. Blair, of Hawke’s Bay, was married to Aliss Rowena Peterson, eldest daughter of Air Charles Peterson, of Gisborne. The Rev. C. Griffin performed the ceremony. Tiie bride was given away by her father. Alisses Alay and Lilian Peterson, sisters of the bride, acted as bridesmaids. Mr G. Blair, brother of the bridegroom, as best man, and Afr W. Judd, cousin: of tiie bride, as groomsman. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a beautiful gold watch, and to the bridesmaids diamond and ruby brooches. Air and Airs Blair left last night for their future home in AVellington. Yesterday .afternoon at St. Andrew’s church, Air Cecil Charles Somervell, fifth son of Air John Somervell, was married to Aliss Alartlia Saiullant, youngest daughter of Mr Joseph Saiullant, the Rev. A\ r . Grant performing tiie ceremony. The bride was given away by her brother. Afr .11. Saiullant. Aliss Nellie. Aforell acted as bridesmaid and Atr E. Somervell as best- mail.
