DROWNING FATALITY.
Proßs Association. AUCKLAND, Jun. 1. A fireman named Mahony, of the steamer Largo Law, was drowned in tho harbor this morning. Constables Holland and Kenny heard a spiasli oil tho Northcoto ferry teo and went to investigate. Constable irollniul» sooing a man in tho water, immediately .sprang into tho harbor, and by tho exercise of considerable skill and bravery succeeded in bringing lum to shore, where treatment was rondoiccl by Dr. King. Mahony was then alivo, but after unrolaxod attempts at resuscitation he was taken to the hospital, where• ho expired shortly niter 8 p.m.
