Press Association. NAPIER, Jan. 1. The Customs duties collected for the past month show a substantial increase over the same month last year, the figures being: 1906, £8415 4s 3d; 1907, £B9IO 3s 3d. The beer duty for the same month was £465 19s lOd, as against £623 14s sd, the last-named figures being a record for on A month. The Customs duties collectedXfor the whole year of 1906 amounted to £96,299 12s 3d, and for 190 1 to £104,486 Is Id, and the beer duty" for tlie same periods £3852 Is 5d and £4425 12s lid respectively.
