ROWING
PROPOSED REGATTA IN GISBORNE. Mr,. S. Jago, secretary of the championship regatta to be held nv Napier on March 20th. was in Gisborne yeswrday. In an interview with Mr. u. E. Dustin he intimated that there were three extra ovßlits added to the programme—maiden and junior single scuffs and lOst fours. Mr. Jago spoke very highly of the interest taken by the various clubs in-the regatta, tie a’ked if it were not possible for a regatta to be arranged in Gisborne for March 25th, to fit m with the Napier fixture. Messrs J. Webb and D. E. Dustin are at present seeing w'iat can be done in the matter, and it is quite probable that the regatta 'will be 'held, provided that there is enough public support. It is .hoped -fro arrange a course from out m the hay, finishing at the wharf, and it the weather is rough tho races could be- rowed in lieaxs on the Tarulieru river.. The matter is to be fully considered at the meetings of the committoss of the two clubs pn Monday next.
