COOPER’S OPERAiSCOPE COMPANY.

Mr Charles Cooper’s name at tlie head of the bill is the hall mark of the entertainment to be provided for tlie New Year season in His Majesty’s Theatre commencing to-mor-row niglit. There will he a special entertainment on Thursday afternoon for tbe’convenionce of families, country visitors and children. For New Year’s night a specially prepared holiday programme will be presented, including the most popular and best known of Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic operas, “Tlie Mikado.” Addition ii interest will he attached to this picture, as the.lyrics and musical numbers will be reproduced, whilst tlie scenes are before the audience..-. A special feature in this operatic picture will be the reproduction of the voices of the London artists who will also lie seen taking part in the opera. “Tlie Mikado" picture is said to he one of tlie longest yet imported to New Zealand, and is beautifully colored. Another triumph of kinematograpliic art is Lewis Carroll’s famous pantomime, “Alice in “Wonderland,” which, besides being most applicable to tile season of the year, should appeal to the youngsters. The beautiful ballets and transformation scenes are all faithfully reproduced. A host of comic pictures have been specially selected by 'Air Cooper’s London and American agents, and are n;iid to he all long and screamingly funny subjects. (Pictures of adventure and dbring are also included in the programme. “The Girl from Montana” or “Cowboy Life in the Wild AYest of America,” is said to be of an extremely exciting character. Another picture most favorably referred to is Professor Hamburger’s thrilling act “Taming tlie Wild Lions.” Tlie pictures will be shown by electricity generated by the Company’s own 110 volt dynamo. Aliss Louie Fisher will sing some of the latest h.tllards, both illustrated and otherwise; and, in conjunction with Air Hugh AVilson, will appear in a highly diverting comedy sketch, introducing the iatest musical hits of the day. Tickets to all parts of the theatre may be procured at AVm. Aliller’s and which will admit to early doors without extra charge.
