KUMARA HOSPITAL TROUBLE.
PUBLIC MEETING OF PROTEST. HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT ENDORSED. Press Association. HOKITIKA, Dec. 24. A very large meeting was hold at Kum.ar.a~ last evening regarding hospital matters, the. Mayor presiding. The nieeting carried motions protestin'" against the proposal foreshadowthe Inspector-General to close the institution, also affirming the desirability of a- deputation proceeding to AVellington to lay the position before 'Government, and apply for a new wing and operating dumber. A vote of confidence was also carriedin the management of the trustees. The meeting was addressed by Mr Michel, Mayor of Hokitika, who entered a strong protest against the proposed scheme of regard to the hospitals on the West Coast; also by Mr Seel don. M.P., who /rave an assurance from tile (A ll luster for Hospitals and l the Premier that the local hospital would not be closed. The internal affairs of tlie hospital are still unsettled, and fur-r ther members of the staff have tendered their resignation.
