AUCKLAND, Dee. 24. .Air Rosser, secretary of tlie Trades and Labor Council, has received the fbllowingtelegram : “Denniston Union appealing against Judge Sinn’s decision re bank-to-bank clause. Expect great fight. Kindly inform unions in y’our district. —Signed, J. Macliant, secretary.” Tho telegram is regardt ed as an appeal for financial support. WORK PROCEEDING SMOOTHLY AT DENNISTON. OUTPUT AVELL MAINTAINED. AVESTPORT, Dec. -24. Owing to many men 'being absent holiday making, only one shift is employed at Denniston, but work is proceeding quietly, on the eight hours bank-to-bank principle (the system insisted upon by the men), and the output is well maintained. The management have apparently reconsidered the question of closing the mine rimless the award is obeyed. Matters will probably- remain in the present state until, proceedings are taken for a breach of award (probably by the Labor Department), or the Union get their case into the higher Court.
