Tlio Turangamu green has amply repaid for tlio amount of trouble that £ been taken with it by the carataker. and on Saturday afternoon was playing in perfect order. the (handicap -pairs competition advanced yet another stage, when Devery and Gaud in (skipper) met and defeated R. Sheet and Williams (skipper) by 22 to 19. The former pair were conceding a handicap of 4, and on the •ninth head had overtaken this, and the score stood at 8 all. On the eleventh head the score was still level at 9 all, but from this out Devery and Gaud in obtained the lead and maintained it to the finish, winning by 8 (points. The draw for the semi-final •in this event took place and resulted as follows: —Neill and Colley v. Bir•rell and Martin. The winner of this match meets Devery and Gaudrn in the final. A game was also played on Saturday between a team skipped ibv Nasmith, sen., and Martin s representative team, resulting in an. easy victory for tlio ‘ reps., who played’a consistent game throughout. Various practice games were also indulged in.
