ROWING.
The final heat of the Seymour Double Sculls (Poverty Bay. Club) was i-owed on Saturday evening, the contestants being R. McGuffie and it. Thaxter (3 secs) and B. Lowe and CF. E. Porter (5 secs). The former pair won hy two feet after a neck-and-neclc race for half the distance. A great deal of interest was evinced in this contest, and there was great excitement at the finish, as each pair was declared the winner by their respective “<barrackers,” until the umpire gave his decision as above.
