PROTEST AGAINST NEAV ACT. Proas Association. AVELLINGTON, Dec. 9. TU.O Chinese of tho Dominion have sent a protest to tho Minister of Internal Affairs, tho'Hon. Dr. Findlay, against the Chinese Immigrants Amendment Act, which has boon reserved lor Royal assent, and which seeks to impose nil education test in English in addition to £IOO poll tax. Tho petitioners urged that no exeinptin is provided for Chinese residents of New Zealand now visiting China, who have no facilities in tho districts thev aro visiting to learn to read English. Further, they urge that the Act is opposed to well-rocDgniscd principles of international law and is unfriendly to the Chinese Empire. They aro asking His Majesty to refuso his assent to tho Act.
