Maloclm report the following prices at tlieir produce sale on Saturday: —Ducks 2s to 2s 3d, hens Is Gd to 3s, chicks and cockerels 9d to -Is od, hen and chicks ss, young ducklings 4s Gd dozen, eggs Is Oid, butter bjd to Is, sound onions lad to 2fd, okl potatoes 7s 9d, 10s, and 15s sack, new do. ljd to lid, oranges is to 9s case, peas Is Gd peek, gooseberries 2d Spring onions, lettuce, cabbage, cauliflowers and turnips sold at last week’s rates.
THE WOOL SALES. United Press Association —CopyrightLONDON, Dec. 8. Wool: There was a moderate sale yesterdav. Only inferior crossbreds offered, ‘and sold slightly in buyers’ favor. Merinos were unchanged in prices. The sales included Pareora clip, which sold at llid. To date 170,206 bales have been offered and 81,132 sold. GENERAL. Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. .9. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated London, December 7, states: Tlie mutton market is weak. Stocks of New Zealand on hand are light. The market lias been unfavorably affected, as River Plate is in large supply and strongly pushed for sale. Canterbury is at 3|d, North -Island 3fd. There is no alteration in the lamb market, which is quiet but steady. Stocks of New Zealand are light at 3£d- for hindquarters, and" 3j[(l for forequarters. The butter market is firm, with more inquiry. Choicest New Zealand is at 118 s, Australian 116 s, Argentine 116 s, Danish 1225, Siberian 108 s. Tlie cheese market is rather quiet. New Zealand is'at 60s. The hemp market is quiet and rather steadier. Moderate business lias been done. Good fair grade on spot is at £29, fair grade 011 spot £2B, fair current Manila 011 spot £29. There is no alteration in tlie cocksfoot seed market since last week. The wool market is a shade weaker, especially for second-class quality. The arrivals of meat from River Plate during November were: London, mutton 73,966 carcases, lamb 2668; Liverpool, mutton 105,544 carcases, lamb 7019; Hull, mutton 9397, lamb nil; Cardiff, mutton 13.049, lamb 500; Newcastle, mutton 10,743, lamb 57; ■lreland, mutton 3044, lamb 3.
