ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

Yesterday a man named G. H. Alood, while working wool on tho s.s. AVaiwera, was accidentally knocked down the hold, falling fifteen feet. He put out his hand to save himself,' and as a result his wrist was broken. He was brought into town, and attended by Dr. Schumacher, who reported last night that tho sufferer was progressing favorably. At about 7.30 o’clock on Thursday evening a serious collision occurred on the Alakauri road. Air. J. Uridge, with his family, was driving along tho road, and when in tho vicinity of Air. Thomas’ gardens lie sa w a motor car approaching. He drew off to tho side of tho road, intending to wait till tho car passed, but the car caught the wheel of tho trap, and tho car swerved into the ditch, tho occupants being thrown out heavily. None of- the occupants of tho trap were-injured. Of the occupants of the car Air. S. Ensor was thrown against a post and became entangled in some barbed wire, Air. Roland senior was rendered unconscious for a time, and Air. Bolaml junior escaped with a severo shaking and some slight cuts. On arrival in town Dr. Schumacher attended to the sufd'erers. Several stitches were put in Air. Ensor’s wounds. Yesterday he was suffering from nervous reaction, but is reported to he making satisfactory recovery. Dr. Schumacher reports tho same of Air. Boland senior, though he will bo confined to his house for at least ten days. Both, of course, are still suffering severely from shock. Yesterday a child, Lorna Clirisp, daughter of Captain A. D. Clirisp, while being wheeled in a perambulator by her brother, was precipitated to the ground, and broke her arm just below the elbow. Press Association. , DUNEDIN, Doc. 6.
