ANOTHER DROWNING FATALITY
MAORI’S BODY FOUND IN TaIrUHERU RIVER.' 1 During tho progress of the boat races on £ho Tarulieru river last night, the coxswain of one of the boats noticed some object in the water just outside the Poverty Bay Club’s shed. On closer examination it was found to be the body of a man. The police were immediately informed, and Constable Tart by means of a boat brought tho body ashore. It was identified as that of a Waimata Maori named Wi T'akamoana, well known in the district. Deceased had evidently been only a short time in tlie water, and one person present stated that, lie had seen him in town at 9 o’clock on Monday night. Tho body was fully clothed, and no marks of violence were to be found. No evidence is forthcoming to show bow deceased got into the water, but it is stated that lie was subject to fits, and it is surmised that lie met his fate during one of these seizures. An inquest will bo held this afternoon.
