ANOTHER TRAINING VESSEL ■ NEEDED. (Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 30. At the banquet to Sir James Mills, Mr C. W. Jones, who is the local manager for Huddart Parker and Cov., proposed the toast of the Murine Department. In doing so he said that tho Department in ■administering the laws displayed more common sense than was seen in the I a ms, themselves. In returning thanks the (Minister for Marine said that there M - as no cause for any company to fear the Department. The desiro of the officers was not to hamper but to help. They M-ere not looking for trouble hut if it came along they Mere prepared to faco it. If trade miis to go in increasing it M-as absolutely necessary for any Government that M-as in power to assist in improving the smaller harbors. In regard to the Amokura lie declared that it was too small for requirements. Another and larger vessel M-as needed; one could bo used as a depot, and the-other employed in giving ttlio lads experience on tlio high seas. His conclusion was a meed of praiso to the Union Coy. u-hich had 95 per cent of Britishers in its crews.
