At the Farmers’ Club rooms this .ltunioon a number of the friends of Mr G. E. Eliott, who lias been promoted to the managership of the Auckland' branch of Messrs Dalge.ty and Coy, will meet to bid him farewell.
Constable l’ratt (underwent an Operation yesterday for the purpose or having " extracted from his arm five shot which were lodged there 21 years ago as the result of a gun accident. ' The health of Air. James Wallace, licensee sf the .Tumnganui Hotel, has lately been causing his friends some ailxiety. At a -late hour last niglbt it was reported' that he was slightly brighter, though his condition is chill considered very serious. Air. Graham, who was seriously injured recently, is now practically recovered, and it is expected that he will be discharged from the hosin a few days. Air. F. J. Lysnar, who recently underwent an operation for appendicitis,’ fas now , thoroughly recovered,' and/ is about again. Air. Aloysius _ AlaoDoinild, bank manager, was tiilten seriously ill list week, anil but small hopes are held out for Ills-recovery (wires our AVellington correspondent). News • has been received (notifies our AA’ellington correspondent) that Air. Kenneth Hume,, of - the-staff of the- Sydney office cf the--'Union Steamship. Co. (sou of Lieut.-Col. Hume, of AAMlington), was married in -Sydney, yesterday to Afiss Garde, o; that city. Qlr. J.. Cannon, badly injured recently at ToJaga, .shows no marked improvement in his condition so far, but he is a good deal more comfortable. On Sunday- Dr. De Clive -Lowe will arrive from Auckland with a. Rontgen ray apparatus, to take a photograph of Air. Cannon, for t'he purpose of definitely _ ascertaining tlie extent and exact character of has injuries. -
