COMPETITION IMPROVED IN LONDON. United Press Association—Copyright LONDON, Nov. 27. : At the wool sales, 9179' bales were offered. There was a good assortment of merinos. There was a large attendance and good competition compared with the closing prices for the October sales. Merinos averaged 10 per cent decline, and crossbreds, which were mostly slipes, 7J per cent, decline.
At the wool sales (second day) competition has improved. The opening rates have been fully maintained. .
SYDNEY SALES. (Received 10 p.m., Nov.. 25.) SYDNEY, Nov. 28. At the wool sales to-day. better classes closed brisk at the improved levels established on Tuesday. Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 28. The High Commissioner cables, under date London, 27t.h: “The wool sales have commenced, and plenty oi buyers are present, with competition keen among them. Business was quiet at the beginning, but improved during she progress of tlie sales. Business prospects are good. Prices have, however, declined on account of the condition of the money market. Fine merino is quoted at id and heavy merino and crossbreds at an average of Id per lb lower than at last sale ”
