SUNDAY SCHOOL CONFERENCE.

The Sunday School teachers of the schools in the parish of (Holy Trinity and those of Waerenga-a-hika, Patutalii, and.Te Karaka districts met for a conference at Holy Trinity Church yesterday. Tlio conference met ill tho schoolroom at 2 p.m., the Rev. L. D. Thomas being in the chair. The Rev. M. W. Butterfield delivered a short address on tho principles of teaching and tho advantages of conferences. Tlio speaker invited discussion on the points he had raised. The Rev. F. W. Chattorton emphasised tho desirability of _ arranging for lectures by trained teachers" and tho value of methodical and systematic work. With regard to the reading of the Bible in class, on tho motion of Mr. F. C. Long, a resolution was carried that the use of the Revised Version is desirable, and - that in tlie infant classes doctrinal teaching should bo chiefly based upon tho historical portions of Holy Scripture. Several of the teachers present took part in ail animated discussion, and very useful suggestions were made. This conference is the first of a system of regular conferences organised under tho direction of the Diocesan Synod. A committee was appointed to arrange for future conferences.
