WELLINGTON, Oot. 21. The High Commissioner’s cable dated London, October 19th, states: Tho mutton marfket is weak, although there is a heter demand, induced by lower prices. Canterbury 31, North Island 3id. There is a good demand for all lamb, with no change in prices. The beef market is dull. There are largo supplies of American chilled beef on hand; hindquarters 3Jd, forequarters 23d. The butter market is strong. _ All stocks aro advancing. There is a large demand for better grades. Tho first Shipment of New Zealand’s new season’s make sold to arrive at 120 s. Danish butter on spot is at 1245, Siberian 108 s, Australian 117 s. There is a good demand for ctheese. Prices aro unchanged since last week. Tho hemp market is weaker; prices aro slightly lower, besides being in rather an unsettled condition. Good fair grad© on spot is at £3O, fair grade £2B 10s.
