SPORTS AND PASTIMES.

ROWING. A committee meeting of tlie P.B. R-owing Club was held last evening, Mr. J. Webb in the chair. Arrangements wore advanced for the trral fours to be rowed on Monday next. The chairman notified that Mr. G. Holmes had donated a pair of trousers for presentation to the stoke of the winning crew. Photos donated by Mr. C. S. Cox will also be awarded the members of the crew. The crews will be drawn on Monday. The subcommittee appointed to revise rules made a progress report. The rules as revised will be submitted to a general meeting.

Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 21. The Lyttelton Regatta Committee have increased the New Year’s Day prize list from £177 to £222.

CRICKET,

Tho usual weekly meeting of the P.B. Cricket Association was held last night in the British Empire Hotel. Mr W. Miller occupied the chair, and there was a, full attendance of delegates. It was decided to continue the To Rau-Taruheru match next Saturday at Taruheru, and the UnitedWanderers match was postponed owing to the Domain being occupied by tho colts, who meet the Waingake eleven. It was resolved to call for Applications for the position of groundsman, and Messrs Hallamore, Gibson and Cary were appointed a committee to draw up specifications as to his duties, etc. After considerable discussion it was decided to hold a conference on tho question of ground fees, between three delegates from the Thursday clubs and three from the Saturday clubs, with Mr. AY. Miller as chairman.

LONDON. Oct, 20. At lawn tennis R .Doherty and Simond defeated Brookes and Hillyard ill the final of the covered court championship Green Club, 6—4, 6—4, 4—6, 6—l.
