ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
Press Association. MASTERTON. Oct. 19. A young carpenter, Walter Andrews, while ascending scaffolding at the Prince of Wales Hotel, let go his hold and fell, striking some timber. It is feared the base of the skull is fractured.
MASTERTOX, Oct. 20. Andrews, who met with an accident on Saturday morning, died on Saturdav afternoon. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 20. The body of a man named Miscliamp, who. was drowned in the Clarence river yesterday, has been recovered. No particulars are available-. NAPIER, Oct. 20.
At the inquest on the body of Michael Henry, who died as the result of an accident- when working on the Harbor Board’s dredge, it was ascertained that part of the machinery which broke had been made locally, ami had not been tested by the Harbor Board. A verdict was returned that death had resulted from the accident, and the jury added a rider that it was advisable that in future the Harbor Board should test the strength of all chains and similar machinery used bv them.
