PALMERSTON, Oct. 15. Mr. E. Short the well-known Romney sheep breeder, has presented a solid silver Cup, to bo known as tho Short Romney Marsh Challenge Cup, to the Manawatu A. and P. Association. Tho cup, which cost 100 guineas at Home is 17 inches high, 10 inches wide and mounted upon an ebony pedestal, which brings the height to 24 inches. The cup is handsome and appropriately ornamented, and under tho conditions of presentation, must be won twice in succession, or three, times at intervals. The competition is for sheep to bo bred and owned by tlio exhibitor, no sheep bred by the donor to be eligible to win tho Cup outright, through they may compete at any time.
