Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct. ’2. Edward Murtagh, a jockey, was charged at the Court to-day with I wounding an infant named Tui Leigh, with intent to do grier-as bodily harm. Tlie-facts alleged are that arcus '-cl lived in the same boardinghouse is the baby and its mother. Yesterday the mother and Murnrjn had words, during which accivel is a'Vg I id to have cut the child’s thigh wilh a razor. The wound is serious, and the child is not yet our of danger. Prisoner was remauded until the 16tli, hail being fixed himself in ±.IOO and two sureties of £SOO each. The Colonial Council of the Tramway Employees Federation has unanimously endorsed the provisions of the Tramway Act Amending Bill, especially in respect to the provision of a uniform examination for all motormen. The Council is urging the Government to pass the Bill without amendment.
John ICowen, whose conviction on a charge of fraudulent bankruptcy was affirmed by the Court of Apjttl on Wednesday, was admitted tc probation .by Judge Cooper ro-day on certain conditions, including paymo it of costs.
