LICENSING COMMITTEE.
. Tlio quarterly meeting of the AVaiiapu Licensing Committee was held in the Courthouse at noon yesterday, there being present Messrs. AA’. A. Barton (chairman), AA’. Tomblesbn, G.'E. Darton, J. Somervell, and D. Hepburn. In Sergeant AA'illiains’s report complaints were made against the Tiiiiroto Hotel, as to the quality and quantity of tho liorse-feed, and that fowls were allowed to run about the stuble-yard, preventing horses from feeding. A complaint was also made against the state of the urinal at the British Empire Hotel. The drain from the urinal, which is an open one, is a menace to public health, and Sergeant AVilliams was instructed’by the Bench to make periodical visits to such places to see that they
were conducted in a satisfactory'manner. The following transfers were granted :—Tolaga Bay Hotel, from AA’illiam Frederick Sinclair to John Pi.utriek Murpliy; Tatapouri Hotel, Thomas Beniamin Sweet to Frederick James Single; To Raliui, Frederick Montague Newoy to AVilliam Kirk; Masonic Hotel, executors late J. A. Harding to Percival C. Elliott; accommodation license, Motu, Christian Hhnsen to AVilliam Bright. iMr. A. S. Caulton. was granted tliq renewal of license of tlio Kaitaratalii Hotel. The applications of. C. Neenan, Ormond, and Geo. P. Priestly, YVaerenga-a-hika, for renew lls were adjourned until the next meeting of the! committee.
r- Mr. A. F. Saunders, AVaipiro, was granted leave of absence, his brother taking his place.
