Fit ID AY. SEPTEMBER «• (Before Mr. AV. A. Barton, fci.M.) Drunkenness. —Robert Moody Hendorson, charged with being,, found drunk, was convicted and lined 10s, costs 2s, in default, 48 hours’ imprisonment.
.Supplying Liquor.—Janies Robert Dower was charged with supplying liquor to John Cassidy, a prohibited person, and was lined £5, costs 7s, in default 30 days’ imprisonment.
Killing at Other Than Abattoirs.— Tho iStock Dopurtmont sued Jolin Allpy for killing stock at other than the abattoirs. Mr. Nolan appeared for the Department, and Mr. Linn for the defendant. Mr. Finn stated that it was through ignorance of the law that tho defondan.t had committed the breach, and lie asked for a small penalty. Mr. Nolan said that lie 'had been instructed by the Department not to ask for >a heavy fine, but' to state that the caso had been brought as a warning to others. His Worship in giving judgment said that as this was tho first oaso of Hie kind lie would be lenient, bint if others did not take warning and were brought before him he would be compelled to inflict a substantial penalty. The maximum penalty in a oaso of this kind was £SO. Defendant was fined £l, costs £2 4s. Omitting to Keep Slaughter Book. —John Aliev was further charged with failing to keep a proper record of th© stock he killed, and wias fined os, costs 17s 6d. ■Common Assault. —Tamibana AA'aerepa was charged with assaulting AY. Bartlett at Te 'Karaka. Accused pleaded guilty, and was fined £l, costs £1 17s 2d, in default 7 davs’ imprisonment. A further charge against the accused of committing n breach of the peace was withdrawn.
