MATAWHERO STOCK SALE
The N.Z.L. and M.A. supply the following report on their sale nt MataWhero on Thursday : Tllie attendance was larger than usual, and it was evident from the interest taken in the sale tbit the advent of Spring is leading to increased business. Sheep.—Our yardin- comprised 1125. A .large line of hoggets, not meeting the owner’s reserve, was passed in. Our sales comprised 376 at following quotations -—-Ewes and lambs 19s 6d to 21s, dry ewes 13s 9d, hit ewes 18s to 19s, hogget 10s 5d for small, 12s Oil for medium sized sheep. Cattle.—Of ail entry of 150 we sold 122 at fair values! under moderate competition. Calves, email from 17s 6d to 22s Gil, ■better sorts 18s to 32s (id, herd cows £2 ;ios to £2 12s 6d, cows and calves £ I Ps. fat cows £5, heifers 1 2-anoiiths £2.; 18-months £3, springing dairy heifers £4 2s 6d to £5, steers 18months £2 17s, two-year-olds £4, 25 years £4 15s, light beef steers £6 10s; better finished beef £7, crossbred bull £5. Pigs.—There was brisk competition for the small entry which came forward. AVeaners made 12s Oil to 14s. The next sale will be held on the 19th inst., for which early entries ■are requested.
