Prime Canterbury is, however, scarce, and is quoted at 4fd, second-class quality '43d; North 'lsland mutton 3|d. River Plate is in strong supply, and being strongly pushed for sale at 3Jd. The lamb market is firm. bine weather has set in, and there is a general and active demand, with moderate stocks on hand. Canterbury ogd, other than Canterbury old. Beef: The market is quiet. Supplies are increasing. Hindquarters 3ld, forequarters 2id. . , Butter: The market is firm for best quality, the supply falling short of demand, and prospects are favorable. Nominal quotations for choicest New Zealand are 106 s, Danish 110 s, Siberian 965, Canadian 105 s. . „ , Cheese: The market- is quiei, but holders are firm. It will be an agreeable surprise if prices do not decline. The supply of Home made is very large. New Zealand white 60s, colored 61s, Canadian white 575, colored BHemp: B Hemp: The market is dull; very little business doing. _ Current quotations are: Good fair Wellington £32 10s, fair grade £29, both on spot. The cocksfoot.seed market is ftnn, with light stocks on hand. Bright, clean New Zealand--seed 171 b per bushel, 60s. . , New Zealand long-berried wheat, on spot, per quarter of 4961b5, 36s fid • New Zealand short-berried, wheat, ditto, 35s 6d. The market is firm, with improved demand.
