WELLINGTON, August 21. At the Supremo Count to-day Jiames Rowan was charged with a breach of /tlie Bankruptcy Aot, in that on 22nd June last, a date within 12 months of his being declared a bankrupt, lie quitted .New Zealand, taking with him property to the value of £2O and upwards, tlie property of his creditors. Accused was found guilty on a second count of the indictment. Certain questions were reserved for argument before tlie Court of Appeal. Pending decision on these points accused was remanded on hail.

DUNEDIN, August 21. At the Supreme Court to-day John McMillan was charged with having between October 25th, 1897, and October utii, 1905, stolen £llsl 18s lOd, this sum having been drawn in varying amounts out of the funds of McKeclime and Fleming, of which accused wias a partner. Tlie case occupied all day. Mr. Hanlon, for tlie defence, submitted that accused did not take the money with tlie fraudulent intent of depriving his co-part-ners, and that accused had every “color of right” to take it. A verdict of “Not guilty” was returned", and accused was discharged.
