LANTERN AND MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT.
In tho Church of England Schoolroom this evening a lantern lecture on tlio above subject will be given by the Rev L. Dawson" Thomas. During a recent visit to Sydney the Vicar of Gisborne attended an exhibition ol" slides especially made for sending Home to the Agent-General in London for tho purpose of advertising tlie colony. Being much struck with the great beauty of tlio scenes tho Vicar secured the loan of a largo number of copies of tlie slides. These will bo thrown on the screen to-night by a powerful lantern. Being personally acquainted with tlie places, the lecturer should make tlio views doubly interesting. The slides embrace pictures of Sydney harbor, tlie city and its jmblic buildings, and some of the lamed tourist resorts. A number of slides •.bowing the Australian aborigines, their weapons, dances, etc., have been specially prepared from photographs for this lecture.
During the evening musical selections will be given by some of the town’s favorite singers. The proceods of the entertainment will be given to the Sunday School. An advertisement calling attention to the entertainment appears in another column of this issue.
