PARLIAMENTARY DIVISIONS.

PROPOSED NEW SYSTEM

(Special to Times.) WELLINGTON, last night. Anyone visiting Parliament must I be struck with the trouble and tlio waste of time caused by 'divisions. Sir Joseph Ward hopes to initiate an I improvement upon tlio present some- I what antiquated method by the adop- I tion next session of an electrical sys- I tom under which members will be ablo to vote without leaving their seats by pressing a button. As each member’s name is called out by the clerk he wid record his vote, which will be j registered on a dial placed at the end of the Chamber, opposite the Speaker, somewhat in the manner in which the numbers are rung up on the totalisator at a horse-racing meeting. The proposed change will probably be generally supported. I understand it lias already been tried elsewhere with success.
