Press Association. AVELLINGTON, last night. Tho following figures show the quantities and values of produco exported from tho colony- during the month of June:—Butter, 16,663 cwt, value £82,450; cheese, 14,0-10 cwt, L-3G.7GG; beef, 44,G58ewt, £01,490; mutton, 157,845 carcases, £104,054; lamb, 35G.895 carcases, £212,845; oats 1335 bushels, £193; hemp, 2760 tons, £78,255. At the Police Court, to-day, John Henry AVhitton pleaded guilty- to a charge of theft of a fish sorvice from C. E. Mills and others. Accused, who was head of the retail department of Mills and Company, was committed to tho Supreme Court for sentence.
A second caso of theft from a warehouse was heard at tho Police Court to-dav, when Henry Norman Cossar pleaded guilty- to tho theft of a lady’s costume from Sargood, Son, and Even, aiul was committed for sentence.
. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day Gustav Grenberg was committed for trial on a charge of perjury at the hearing of the recent cases arising out of a row at a two-up school. PALMERSTON, last night. The splendid entry of 55 dogs has been received for the Maiden Stakes at the inaugural meeting of the Palmerston North Coursing Club, on J ulv 16th and 17th. The new ground, situated almost opposite the Turace End railway station, is considered bv experts to be one of the best in the colony. The AVellington, AVairarapa, and Hawke’s Bay districts are strongly represented in the nominations. Everything points to coursing becoming firmly established as a popular sport in this district.
DUNEDIN, last night. Morgan’s private batiis at the foot of Frederick street will probably be acquired by the city. A Port. Chalmers syndicate is procuring from. Home a. first-class steam trawler, fitted with refrigerators and cool storage, will: a view to trawling from the Bluff to Lyttelton, and establishing depots at all towns along tho coast.
The Presbyterian Orphanage and Children’s Home, to accommodate about 40 children, was opened to-dny by the Kev. Mr. McLennan (Moderator of the Presbytery) and Dr. Nesbit delivered an apropriate speech. WANGANUI, last night. The Wanganui Agricultural Association decided to-night to hold the annual show on November'l3th and I4tli.
