Braithwaite said it was by the Captain’s oriler that the deck wai handed over to Warrant-Officer Collingwood. He states he had not reported the alteration of the course tc the Captain as was usual because they were only temporary courses. Or other occasions such courses had no! been reported. Could not account foi his first alteration, which was 3) de grees. Might have been a bit more hut did not look at the compass. The alterations brought tlie beacon from tlie port bow to the starboard how. Hurst- made a statement. He said he had been almost continuously on the bridge for the previous two days anil was very sleepy. Having set the course he seized the opportunity to have a bath. Received July 10, 0.20 a.m. The Court-Martial found Hurst guilty of an error of judgment in not remaining on deck till C Reef was passed and reprimanded him.
