FOOTBALL.
The following team will represent Ivaiti-City seniors in their match against West End next Saturday : W. Hay, Wilkinson, Puflett, Witty, Grinlinton* Robinson, Rowo (captain), Hansby, Bright, Lowe, Nicolas, Hausen, Grant, Winter, and AVilliams. The Poverty Bay Rugby Union has received a reply from the Manawatu Union stating their willingness to meet our representatives and also j.'romising a return match. The Taranaki Union replied t‘o the effect that they cannot definitely promise a return visit this season.
The interprovincia.l match Auckland v. Hawke's Bay will he played at Auckland on August 10th. The Hawke’s Bay Union have written the local body asking that the annual fixture be arranged for the end of the present month. The Poverty Bay Referees’ Association held their usual weekly meets ing at the Royal Hotel last evening, when the following referees were appointed for next Saturday’s matches:—Senior match, Ivaiti City v. AVELLINGTON, last night, A motion, submitted to the Rugby Union to-night to remove disqualifications from A. H. Baskiville, lion, sec. of the N.Z. Rugby Football Club (professional) was lost. It was decided that the N.Z. Union be requested to indemnify the AVellington Union, if it should suffer any loss through legal action in connection with this matter. INTERPROVINCIAL MATCHES.
AVELLINGTON, last night. The AA’erliugton Rugby Union is -unable to arrange a match with Hawke’s Bay on August 17. A request to fix the Taranaki match for August 31 has been hold over.
