Hockey is playod on the ice in Canada, but Dunedinites had tlio unique experience of playing in two or three inches'of snow at Forbury on Juno ,15tli. The snow proved but little impediment to the games, but occasionallv the ball (which is painted white) would become indistinguishable and lost. At other times, when a vigorous clout sent it on a long journey, it would gathor up snow until it grew to tho phantom size of i> man’s head. Tho hitting surface of tho sticks, also, occasionally ■ accumulated. hard snow, and had to be scraped. In spite of these little drawbacks, however, the games were fast, and the novel experience was amusing and enjoyable. Several ladies’ teams were out as well as men’s.
