His Honor gave" judgment against the vessel,, her freight and cargo, for the amount stated, without prejudice tin subsisting securities for the claims of bondholders in respect of cargo released from arrest, without prejudice to competent claims in respect of wages of master and crew) and .without prejudice to the charterers' rights for an, order in respect of their rights.'

At, a largely attended meeting -of Civil Servants it was resolved ;to form, a branch of the New Zealand Civil Service Association. The following resolution was' unanimously adopted; “That this strongly representative piecting of Civil Servants of Napier respectfully urge on the Government the necessity lor passing a general superamiation scheme, on the lines submitted to last session of Parliament.”
PALMERSTON, yesterday, In the Supreme Court, Frcdk. Thomson,- bootmaker, Feilding, was awarded £2O damages and costs tin the lowest scalp against Ereda |G. McGarry, nee Parsons, of Eketaliuna', for a breach of promise of marriage. Plaintiff claimed £2OO, and received the net loss on furniture purchased in anticipation of the marriage. !
