NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.
. , Press Association. PALMERSTON, yesterday. - . The National Dairy Show of the Manawatu A. and P. Association opens at noon to-morrow, and promises to eclipse the records of past years. All departments are well filled, particular- attention having been given-by exhibitors to the. dairy factory butter and cheese classes. The •school gnrdeii division will be a notable feature, especially large, entries having come forward. Horticultural farm roots, fruit-, aiid vegetable classes" have all.attracted good entries. As usual, tlie display of dairy machinery appliances in motion will be on an extensive scale, tho whole ,of one large-hall being occupied thereby, in-eluding-three milking machine plants, in full operation. In conjunction with the show the annual dairymen’s convention will be held. To-morrow morning tlie annual meeting of tho National Dairy Association (North Island) begins; in the evening the annual meeting of the New Zealand Factory Butter and Cheesema'kers’ Association will take place, followed by the reading- of the prize essay oil butter-making in New Zealand. Wednesday will be occupied by reading; a number of papers of interest to dairymen ; while at noon the same day, the Hon. Mr. McNab, Minister for Agriculture, delivers an address on the testing of dairy herds. This will bo the 'first occasion of any Minister addressing such a. gathering on such a subject in the history of tho colony. On Thursday -numerous addresses to country schools and scholars on various subjects, by officers of the Department of Agriculture, will be deivered. All present indications are for fine weather and a most successful show.
