The Premiers’ Conference adopted a resolution urging that as the question of refrigerated freight was seriously affected by the mail service remaining unsettled, immediate steps be taken by the Commonwealth to arrange a satisfactory contract. The Conference carried Mr. Carruthers’ motion objecting to the proposed agreement for the transfer of the Northern Territory to the Commonwealth.
It was decided to send the New South Wales entomologist to visit countries infested with the fruit fly, to enquire as to the best means of fighting the pest.
