Mr. Charles Earle, associate editor of the Evening Post, and President of the New Zealand Institute of Journalists, has been appointed editor of the new paper about to be published in Wellington, with a capital of £90,000. News has been received at Wellington of the death of Mr. N. W. Werry, at one time a well-known cricketer here. He died in India. Native Constable Pratt, who ‘is to be superseded at Rotorua by Constable N ; eil, of Wellington, will be added to the Gisborne staff. The telegraphed intimation that Detective Cooney, of Dunedin, was to be transferred to.Gisborne is. evidently erroneous.
A Press Association telegram from Auckland states that Mr. W. E. IJj’orster', who has been night editor of the N.Z. Herald for the past three years, has accepted an appointment on the editorial staff of the Hobart Mercury. .
