IS MARRIAGE A FAILURE?
A MARRIED WOMAN’S VIEWS
EASY DIVORCE ANrv THE
BIRTH-RATE
Yostorda-y a correspondent had a lot to say regarding tho lottor of i“Anti-M l arriuge,” and now tho following letter lias been received from “A Married Woman” in answer to tho letter of “Tho More Man” : I do not know whether “AntiMarriage” or “Tho More Man’s” lottor disgusts mo the most. Tho former seems to oonsidor his own selfish interests and desires above his wife’s, and to think that only the man is to bo considered. I pity his wife. Tho latter seemingly agrees with part of your first correspondent’s views, and thinks that the wife is only tlio chattol to be cast aside by easy divorce as soon as tho man is tired of her and becomes attracted by another woman. I ask you, Mr Editor, what would become / of tho children if this were allowed P Everyone is now talking about tho decrease of tho birth-rate and saying that the colony wants more population; but do you think wo women would have more children if wo had no protection, and might soe ourselves and our children thrown upon the world. Men who writo like your two correspondents ought to ho in gaol.
