Owing to bad crop reports, quotations for July wheat have advanced to 108 jj cents, and September, wheat to 108 J cents on the New iork market, and to 102 and 104 iiTtyOpltivcly at Chicago. Profit taking subsequently caused a decline of a cent, the markets being unsettled. ■
Press Association. PRICE OF BREAD RAISED. CHRISTCHURCH, yesterday. As anticipated when the price of flour was raised last week a corresponding increase has been made m the price of bread. A arge meeting of the Master Bakers" Association decided to raise the price from M to 6Jd the 41b loaf, the change beginning to-day. NO RISE IN TIMARUTIMARU, yesterday. ■ : ; .As the result of dimension in the ranks of the bakers the price of bread has not been advanced here. The South Canterbury Master Bak ers Union intended to raise the price . but several bakers refuse Vo jointhe union, and the latter body threaten* to penalise , the non-members by - fusing to increase, the price of bread. In th!s way the union hopes to make all South Canterbury bakers join the , union, the on business at a loss. takes the stand that it is , they should band together for the general good of the bakery .£«£ while some stand out, and who, while paying no fees, reap equal benefits with members of the union. RISE IN WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, last night. _ The Wellington bakers have decided to raise by a half-penny the price of the 21b loaf, which will then cost threepence halfpenny.
