AUCKLAND, yesterday
At a meeting of tho Parnell Borough Council comment was made on tho measures takon by the Health Department in connection with the rocent case of suspicious illness. It was stated that Miss N. 'McMillan, ono of tho victims, was in ja very weak stato of health, and had only recently returned from Cambridge sanatorium. Her relatives were of opinion slio diod of fright oil being placod in an anibulnnco. Several councillors stnted it was a matter that should bo inquired into. It was decided to defer consideration till a future mooting of tlio Council.
WELLINGTON, yesterday
Mr. Eowlds, Minister for Public Health, rocoived a telegram to-day from Dr. Mason, Chief Health Officer, stating that in connection with the two suspicious deaths at Auckland it had now boon bncteriologically proved that tho cause of death was plague. There wore no fresh cases, and all contacts had boon released. Tho bodies of deceased were cremated.
