DUNEDIN, yesterday. The Compensation Court has given judgment on the claim of Edmond Connors v. the Dunedin Corporation. Connors claimed £2700 compensation for the loss of land taken /for street widening. The Court awarded £ISBO. CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Tho City Council to-night approved the scheme of the City Engineer, Mr. .A. D. Robson, for obtaining electrical lower by harnessing the Waiamakat'iri' river and a special committee was appointed to obtain an expert report m tho scheme aud to promote the necessary legislation. GREYMOUTH, yesterday.

News from .the New Alpine mine is to the effect that tho rich gold found last week lias now been proved to bo a chute of considerable extent. Vigorous offorts are being made to place the matter beyond doubt. Probably other developments in the mine may bo expected in about a month.
