VICE-REGAL VISIT
Tile arrangements in connection with the forthcoming visit to Gisborne of his Excellency tho Governor were discussed at tho meeting of the Borough Council on Tuesday evening, when it was decided that on Monday evening next his Excellency should dine with the Mayor and councillors at the Mayor’s residence. Tho • Mayor has decided to declare a public holiday on Tuesday until 1 p.m., to enable townspeople to attend tho public welcome at Trafalgar Rotunda and tho levee at His Alajosty’s Theatre. A meeting of the reception committee was held yesterday morning, when a lot of details were arranged. One of the items on the programme of amusomtnts is a motor run to To Arai and Waerenga-a-hika on Wednesday, and it is expected that some seven or eight cars will be available. Most of the Borough Councillors have signified their ability to make the trip. The Cook County Council lias decided to erect an arch at Matawliero bridge, Te Karaka residents will erect two arches, and the Gisborne Borough Council will decorate Trafalgar Rotunda, where the Governor will be presented with an address of welcome.
