BLANCHE ARRAL

If tile success of the coming season of Aladamo Blanche Arral and lier concert party may be gauged by tile number .tif—SSNls hooked yesterday, a record attendance may he expected at the two concerts to he given at His Majesty’s Theatre on .Wednesday and Friday evenings of next week. As stated in yesterday's issue the Wellington season has been a great success. The Town Hall has been crowded to excess on every oeca sion, and it was found necessary to throw open the organ galleries in order to accommodate patrons. The programme for the first concert will include excerpts from “Faust” and “Alignon,” of which Madame is said to he the greatest exponent ever heard here. The Melbourne Argus says:—“Aladame Arral made a handsome Siebel, and the thunders of applause which followed ‘The Flower Song’ only ceased when, after an astonishingly brief interval, she reappeared as Marguerite, of whom she was an ideal representative. An interval of ton minutes was followed by selections from Huma’s ‘Alignon.’ Then came ‘Connais tu Pays,’ a song which has attracted almost every composer from Beethoven to Liszt. Aladame’s purity of accent, tenderness of feeling, and perfection of rendering enraptured the audience. The ‘Adieu to the Swallows’ was ..equally delightful. After this aria Aladame Arral sang the well-known polacca, ‘I am Titanin.’ A.scene of unbounded enthusiasm followed. Bouquets filled the stage, handkerchiefs were waved, .and shouts and cheers continued and redoubled until tile songstress returned and sang a valse song by Vinzarro. Even then tho audience refused to leave, and insisted on more, and with charming, grace the singer acknowledged the compliment by an exquisite bird carol, 'The Valse D’Oissaux,’ by Varney. .4
