He wandered about Australia for fourteen years till a surgical operation restored h:s faculties. He then found that his wife, beiieving him dead, re-mar-ried, and obtained letters of administration on his property and accepted compensation from Government for the resumption of his farm.

AUSTRALIAN hrtBBIT PEST.

SYDNEY, May 2

Dr. Danysz has submitted his report to the Pastures Board on his experiments with rabbit virus. Ihe experiments of contagion show that 72 infected rabbits died. He gave tho disease to 193 out of 307 healthy rabbits. Tho spots where infected rabbits have lived and died remain infectious for a certain time. An important feature is that lie was unable to obtain on Broughton Island infection causing a lump on the nose, which is a most contagious form. This form was obtained in the laboratory of the Board of Health, Sydney, so it is concluded that the special climatic conditions of the island prevent the appearance of this form of direct infection of rabbits. The experiments prove that this is easily accomplished by putting a certain quantity of virus in the water which they drink in the proportion of one pint of broth to two or three gallons of water, renewing it every day. Several tons of virus could be made per week or even daily, in a properly appointed laboratory. About ten pints of virus would suffice for a thousand acres. The question of the immunity of other animals was left to Dr. Tidswell, appointed by the Commonwealth, but Dr. Danysz satisfied himself on the point, and his experiments fully justified the opinion he held that the virus is dangerous only to rabbits.
