GLEANERS’ UNION.

The first meeting of tho Gleaners’ Union for this year was bob! at Te Ran College last night, tlic Rev. F. AV. Chattel-ton presiding. There was a good attendance. The Chairman made feeling referenme to the recent deaths of the Veil'. Archdeacon S. AA’illiams and of Airs. Selw.vn, widow of the first Bishop of New Zealand, a revered lady who was nearly 100 years old. The Rev. Kohere gave an account of evangelistic missions in India. The Rev. A. Gamble, organising secretary of the New Zealand Church Alissionary Association, Spoke of the work of the Association in New Zealand and of the various branches of the Gleaners’ Union, and of the present condition .of the Association. He stated that he would he obliged to sever bis connection with the Association oil account of illhealtli. He mentioned the new missionary just sent out to China by tlie Association, wlio had gone to educational work in Foocliow. At the close of the meeting Air. 'DeLautour made a few remarks. He thanked Air. Gamble for his remarks and expressed regret that lie would be obliged to leare the Association. He also said that in view of the fact that the Association had been only twelve years in existence, the fact—tliat fourteen missionaries bad been sent from New Zealand and were being supported by the Association was very creditable.
