Tenders are invited for the purchase of the splendid site on which the Gisborne drillshed is located. At the meeting of the Borough Council last night the Technical School was granted a donation of £2O.

Perry’s Biornma and Specialty Co. made their final appearance at Ilis Majesty’s Theatre last night. Tonight the company appears at AYairoa.

Tho Public Works Committee of the Harbor Board met on Monday, and granted permission for the removal of a few loads of gravel from the Haiti beach.

The freehold of the Te Karaka Hotel was disposed of yesterday, the price being £IO,OOO, which 'includes stock, furniture, etc. Bush fellers are wanted for felling 350 acres of medium bush; application to be made to Mr. T. E. Sherwood, AVaipiro Bay or Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co., Gisborne. It was found impossible on Saturday to choose the team from the Haiti-City Football Club to visit Napier at Eastertide. Tile team will be chosen during the week' and will leave for South on Sunday next.

A social is to bo held on April 18th by the Haiti City Football Club to defray the expenses incurred in sending a tea into Napier. At a meeting of the club last night final arrangements were made and tickets issued to members for sale.

Tho Haiti City Football Club met last night and a number of players were selected to play a trial match at 11 o’clock on Friday morning for tlic purpose of enabling; a final choice to lie' made of a team to journey to Napier. A good attendance of the chosen players at the match is required.

At 2.30 o’clock on Thursday a meeting of representatives of the Harbor Board, County Council, and Borough Council is to be held in the County Council Chambers to consider proposals made by 'Mr. W. L. Bees regarding the outer harbor, the railway to Tahora, and the supply of road metal to the County and Borough Councils. The City Band will he in attendance at the Floral Fete at the Park on Saturday, and will render a programme of popular music. Entries for the Fete close on Thursdayg afternoon at the school. Arrangements have been made with the Railway Department for special trains, the first of which will leave Gisborne at 10.45 and another will leave at 1.30. The return train starts from the' Park at 4.50 p.m.

A number of acts of larrikinisin have lately been perpetrated at the Recreation Grounds. The turning wheels on the footbridge have been taken off, the lamps on the bridge have been broken, all the ventilators on the band rotunda have been smashed, and the notices warning cyclists not to ride on the bridge have been broken to splinters. It seems time that the Borough Council took some steps to punish these wanton destroyers of public property.

There was a large gathering of business people at the Farmers’ Union Club room last evening when a presentation was made to Mr. E. lfwerson, in connection with his entering into business on liis own ac-. count. The presentation was made by Mr. Win. Pettie, who referred in high terms to Mr. lfwerson during the many years he had been doing business at Gisborne and other towns of call. His eulogistic remarks were endorsed by other speakers all heartily wishing success to the new firm. The gift was a silver salver. Mr. lfwerson suitably replied.
