Tho totalisator did brisk business, tlio amount put through being considerably in excess of last year’s total. For tlio second time during the meeting tho stewards wore called together, in tho second caso to consider a protest lodged by tho owner of Ivan against stakes and second dividend being paid out on Cakewalk. It was stilted that Cakewalk had won a race valued at £5 at last St. Patrick’s sports, and was tboroforo not qualified to run in tlio Scurry. In rosponso to an enquiry, Mr. E. AAfilliams, lion, soc., St. Patrick’s Sports Committee, wired verifying tho objector’s statement, and a motion proposed by Mr. Boland seconded by Mr. Taylor, that stake and second dividend bo paid out on tlio third horse, Ivan, was carried.

The favorite shot away at the jump, and led the field all tho way, San Jose lying second, with Lady Betty, Cakewalk, and Ivan bunched together handy. A great race up the straight displaced San Jose in favor of Cakewalk for second honors, with Ivan on his flank third. A protest against Cakewalk was upheld, and the second money was paid on Ivan. Time 1.6. Dividends £3 and £2 4s. On totalisator £584.

President’s Handicap, of 40 sovs , 7 furlongs. 108 Hinctitamata, 8.0, Malone ... 1 131 Eonc, 7.13, Mclntosh 2 98 Gladsmuir, 7.7, McKinnon ... 3 Scratched: Flag. Also ran: 133 Lady Warwick, 31 Iliki, 22 Hinotapuariki, 21 Alluvial. From a good start Hinctitamata led the field, with Kone and Lady AVarwick and Gladsmuir close up. Coming up the straight Eone worked into second place, Gladsmuir half a length behind third. AA’on by a length. Time 1.344. Dividends £3 7s and 18s. On totalisator £543.

Hauiti Handicap, of 50 sovs. 149 Trent, 9.13, Murray 1 114 Waimaori, 8.10, Woon 2 14 Droamstar, 7.7, McKinnon ... 3 These were the only startercs. Droamstar was left at the start, and was never in the race. Flag led past the stand but soon gave place to Gladsmuir and Lady Warwick. Gladsmuir maintv.ied her lead and won by a length. A god race for second place resulted in Flag securing the honors.
